SIX SILVER DINNER FORKS AND A PAIR OF SALT SPOONS, CIRCA 1845 the silver dinner forks, each engraved "Key" on the handle, h: 8.25 x w: 1 in.; and the Georgian silver salt spoons with the initials "WT" engraved on the back of each handle, the initials for William Taylor, a nephew of President Zachary Taylor, l: 3 15/16 in. Provenance: Dinner forks: Said to have been associated with Francis Scott Key according to the donor; Bequest of Lucy Key Miller Sturges (1911-1996), 1996; Property of The Society of the Cincinnati [M.1996.002.2.1-.6]

Salt spoons: Property of The Society of the Cincinnati. Said to have been given as wedding presents to William Taylor and his wife, great aunt of the donor, ca. 1845; Descended in the Taylor and Thom families to Mrs. George Brooke McReynolds (Lucy Lewis Thom) (1900-1991); Gift of Col. and Mrs. George Brooke McReynolds (1897-1991), 1964 [M.1964.1040.2.1-.2]
