WEDGWOOD BLACK BASALT ‘ENCAUSTIC-DECORATED’ TEAPOT AND COVER circa 1780-1795, impressed Wedgwood, 5 and M, of barrel form with straight spout, the ear-shaped handle with frond molded thumb rest, the slightly domed cover with Sybil finial, painted in iron-red and white with panels enclosing pendant leaves, the scalloped gallery with half flowerheads, the pot interior glazed, h: 6 1/4 x w: 10 1/2 in.
